Lady Kintore Cottages
In 1920 the Committee of Management for the trust had become defunct. This prompted the State Parliament to pass the Lady Kintore Cottages Act 1920. The Act effectively transferred the homes to the Adelaide Benevolent Society to be held on trust. This ensured that the homes remained as affordable housing and that the history of the homes was preserved.
In 2014 the Act was amended for the first time in almost 100 years to align the housing eligibility criteria of Lady Kintore Cottages with that of the Adelaide Benevolent Society.
Adelaide Benevolent Society is honoured to carry on Lady Kintore Cottages’ proud South Australian legacy. Whilst the original cottages were sold some time ago, all assets purchased continue to be acknowledged with the Lady Kintore Cottages name.
